A history of Alexander Mcqueen
Alexander Mc Queen didn’t have a typically ‘well-connected’ fashion upbringing. Instead, this son of a London taxi driver started at the bottom of the pile with apprenticeships in tailoring before moving to a theatrical costumier’s. He then went to Milan to work as a design assistant before returning to London in 1994 to complete a Masters Degree in fashion. Following the enormous success of his first collection, he quickly became one of the most sought after fashion designers in the world. He worked at Givenchy before launching his own Alexander McQueen label, now majority owned by Gucci. Alexander McQueen eyewear is now distributed worldwide including through speciality shops and luxury department stores.
